3-6th Grade Teaching Team
Education & Experience:
I graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana with a degree in Environmental Studies. While living in New Orleans, I worked as a Montessori kindergarten teacher and volunteered with organizations providing urban gardening education to youth. I have always been passionate about sharing the magic of the natural world with children.
After moving to the Appalachian Mountains, I began teaching in a Waldorf and nature-based kindergarten program while deepening my personal studies in regenerative agriculture, ecology, and herbalism.
In 2023, I completed a 250-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Asheville Community Yoga. I enjoy integrating body and breathe awareness practices into my work with children when I can!
Teaching Philosophy:
My teaching philosophy is rooted in a whole-child and child-led approach. It focuses on following the curiosities and passions of the students, while supporting them in learning how to solve problems and discover their own answers. I aim to tap into children’s natural enthusiasm and inspire a genuine excitement for learning. I value creating a learning environment that supports both intellectual and academic growth, as well as emotional and cultural connection. One of my goals is that my teaching will support children in gaining confidence in themselves while deepening their sense of belonging to their communities and the natural world.
Favorite thing about kids:
I love the honesty and insight found in the perspectives of children. Their natural curiosity inspires never-ending curiosity in myself and a desire to continue to grow and learn alongside one another. I’m also continuously inspired by their resilience and eagerness to find joy!
Favorite thing about working at MCCLC / WBNS:
My favorite thing about working at WBNS is the shared commitment to nature-based education. I am grateful to be part of a learning community that values time spent outdoors, as the positive impacts for children (and everyone) are significant!
