Education & Experience:
Being outdoors has always been at the forefront of my life from many seasons of neighborhood play in the Northeast to Girl Scouts, and to summer camp as a camper and a counselor to hiking and backpacking all over the country. I will forever be grateful for all the time that was given to me to explore my greatest need and lead my life in such a beautiful way.
My college experiences culminated with an AA in Communications and graduating from Warren Wilson College with a BA in Outdoor Leadership. For five seasons, I had the honor of being a guide for a local hiking company, showing visitors the beauty of the area I call home. I have thoroughly enjoyed working for various nonprofits in WNC over the years as a volunteer coordinator in animal rescue (where I started a hiking club with the dogs), taking children from public housing on summer adventures, helping families dealing with food insecurity in Madison County, and most recently becoming a versatile member of the Woodson Branch team.
Teaching Philosophy:
Things take time, enjoy the process.
Favorite thing about kids:
I love watching them master a task that was once frustrating and seeing their smile brighten and their confidence rise as they celebrate the joy of learning. AND their delight in playing in the forest throughout the seasons!
Favorite thing about working at MCCLC:
I love seeing first hand how the students are learning their ABCs and 123s, from the most amazing teachers, while simultaneously engaged with nature and an outdoor culture. The community at WBNS that continues to be created and evolve for the better of the students, is one I admire.
